The sun goddess (Soler deity) Amaterasu Omikami was distressed with violences of her younger brother Susano-o no Mikoto and shut herself up in a cave, Ama no Iwato.

As the door of solid rock was shut firmly, the world became pitch dark and many ominous events occurred.

Gods and goddess gathered to find a way out…then they decided to give a racket.

A big applause and laughter arose when a goddess Amano Uzume no Mikoto showed a lascivious dance.

Hearing the lively noises Amaterasu wondered what is going on outside and opend the door slightly.

Tadikara-o no Mikoto, a possessor of herculean strength awaited behind the door and opened it at a stroke.

As Amaterasu came out of the cave, the world was lightened again and the peace came back.

Gods and goddess including Amano Uzume danced in front of the cave to pray for the appearance of Amaterasu. This is said to be the origin of Kagura.
